Hello, I’m Rebekah – and welcome to The Gathered Seam.

My sewing journey began in 2016, inspired by watching The Great British Sewing Bee. Wanting to give this new hobby a proper start, I took a sewing course — and from there, my love of sewing has only grown. I’m still learning new skills and techniques all the time, which keeps my creativity alive.

Most of my makes have been garments for myself, but I also enjoy quilting and sewing for family and friends. Some of my most treasured projects have been quilts gifted for weddings, new babies, and special birthdays. In recent years, my focus has grown into creating memory keepsakes — bears, cushions, elephants and more — that hold onto precious moments and stories through fabric.

I’m also a mum to two boys and wife to Robert. After our second son was born in 2022, I decided to leave my full-time job to spend more time with my family. That’s when The Gathered Seam was born. From my home studio, I can balance family life with my sewing work — something that feels both meaningful and fulfilling.

One of the joys of choosing a small business is the unique personal touch you’ll always receive. This is something I truly value: working closely with people, listening to their stories, and bringing their visions to life.

My late father once said “If your job is your hobby, it’s not work.” His words continue to inspire me, as does the way he followed his own dreams as a railway and steam train driver. It’s a reminder to me every day to keep pursuing what I love.
